Friends of the Library
The Friends are a group of individuals who value libraries and want to help expand services, improve the facility, promote the library to the community, and help with fund raising. Everyone aged 18 and over is invited to attend the Friends meeting at 7:00p.m. in the library on the 3rd Thursday of each month, with changes for holidays.
Director: Linda H. Snyder
Library Board of Trustees: The Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library has a nine member Board of Trustees which must include the mayor and the local superintendent of schools. The other seven members are appointed by the mayor and must be approved by council. The Board is responsible, in cooperation with the library director and following New Jersey Library Laws, for establishing the policies that govern the library and for determining library objectives appropriate to the needs of the community. The Board delegates administration of the library to the director. The public is welcome to attend Board Meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Library.
LOGIN: The Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library is now a member of LOGIN (Libraries of Gloucester/Salem Information Network) a group of public, school, and academic libraries in Gloucester and Salem Counties that share their resources through a computerized catalog. Washington Township residents can use their current Margaret Heggan Library cards to borrow materials from the nineteen other libraries that belong to LOGIN.
Interlibrary Loan: If we do not have the book you want we will try to borrow it from another library or may consider buying it and adding to our collection.
